Rajat Garg, MD, FSCAI
A Springfield, Virginia native, Dr. Garg attended Virginia Commonwealth University on a Provost academic scholarship. He received his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996 and went on to complete his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at MCV Hospitals. Dr. Garg joined the MCV faculty as an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Quality Health Care for two years serving as a Hospitalist on the housestaff and non-housestaff services. He also was Co-Director of the Medical Step-Down unit during this time.
Dr. Garg completed his cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004, serving as Chief Fellow during his 3rd year. He went on to complete his Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005 and was appointed to the MCV faculty as an assistant professor for one year. Dr. Garg’s time was equally divided between the inpatient/outpatient Heart Failure services and the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
Dr. Garg’s clinical interests include the diagnosis and percutaneous management of peripheral arterial disease, as well as the long-term management of both ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathies. He is credentialed at INOVA Loudoun and INOVA Fairfax hospitals.
Dr. Garg is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. His Fellow status in the American College of Cardiology is currently pending. He is also a member of the American Heart Association as well as an Affiliate member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Garg is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. |
